Introduction | |||||||||
Doctor Who and the Pescatons came about through a conversation
between former Doctor Who script editor (and writer of Fury of the Deep)
Victor Pemberton and Argo Records producer Don Norman. The duo
shared many interests, incuding that of ecology, or "Green Ideals".
Also keen on conservation was Tom Baker, and it was through this that
Norman and Pemberton were able to interest him in doing a Doctor Who
record, the first time a Doctor Who story was written epsecially for the
audio medium. The story was written, aggrement was obtained from the
BBC, and Elisabeth Sladen and Bill Mitchell signed on to play Sarah Jane
and Zor, respectively. Doctor Who and the Pescatons saw release in 1976 on
Argo records (ZSW 564) between seasons 13 and 14. Since then, it has
been re-released many times on LP, cassette and on CD by Silva Screen
records (FILMCD 707) and novelised in the Target range (#153), all are now
out of print.
