DOCTOR WHO

THE TV MOVIE

ACT THREE

FADE IN:

EXT. GRACE'S CONDO - NIGHT

INT. GRACE'S CONDO - NIGHT

DOCTOR: They Fit. Did these belong to...?
GRACE: (Looking.) Brian? Yeah. Keep them.
DOCTOR: Thanks. What do you think of my blood?
GRACE: It's not blood.
DOCTOR: Mmm... maybe if I walk them a bit, they'll stretch and I'll get used to them.
GRACE: (Standing up.) Good idea. Let's go for a walk.

EXT. PARK

GRACE: Maybe you're the result of some weird genetic experiment...
DOCTOR: I don't think so.
GRACE: But you have no recollection of family...
DOCTOR: No. No, wait... I do. I remember lying back on the grass with my father on a warm Gallifreyan night.
GRACE: Gallifreyan?
DOCTOR: Gallifrey, yes. That must be where I lived. Now where is that?
GRACE: Never heard of the place. But what do you remember?
DOCTOR: Not much. There was a meteor storm... and the sky above us was dancing with light-purple, green and a brilliant yellow! Yes! Yes! Yes...
GRACE: What? What?
DOCTOR: These shoes! They fit perfectly!

INT. TARDIS LIBRARY

MASTER: (Searching.) This was all mine until he stole it from me. He should never have been here...
LEE: You know, I was told he was dead.
MASTER: (Searching.) Yes, that body had died... but he regenerated into another. My body can do that twelve times, but he's taken most of the regenerations!
LEE: What did he do with them?
MASTER: Unspeakeble crimes.
LEE: Like what?
MASTER: Genghis Khan.
LEE: What about him?
MASTER: That was him!
LEE: No way!
MASTER: I'm no saint, but he's evil! And he's doing it all with my body! I was on the verge of stopping him when we arrived. There they are! What do you want, Lee?
LEE: What do you mean?
MASTER: If you could have anything - anything at all, what would it be?
LEE: I don't know. A million dollars?
MASTER: Only a million?
LEE: Okay... two!
MASTER: Think bigger!
LEE: A billion!
MASTER: And what would that buy you?
LEE: Power... But how can you give that to me? Gold dust...
MASTER: You get the rest when I get my body back. Deal?
LEE: Deal.

INT. TARDIS CLOISTER ROOM

LEE: Wow... how did I do that?
MASTER: I told you. The TARDIS likes you. The Cloister Room.
LEE: Awesome...
MASTER: Here... This is the Eye of Harmony. The heart of this place. Everything gets it's power from here.
LEE: How can it help us find him?
MASTER: The Eye used to belong to me. Now it belongs to him. If we can open it, we'll find him.
LEE: Cool. So, how you going to open it?
MASTER: I'm not. You are. See if you can pull a reflector staff from it's mooring.
LEE: One of these?
MASTER: Now, look into the beam of light. If the TARDIS really likes you, the Eye will open.
LEE: (Hesitates.) Why don't you look?
MASTER: You drew the staff from the stone.

EXT. PARK

GRACE: What is it?
DOCTOR: Something's happening.
GRACE: Hey?

INT. TARDIS CLOISTER ROOM

MASTER: What do you see?
LEE: There's the guy I took to the hospital.
MASTER: The Doctor's past lives.
LEE: The Doctor?
MASTER: That's what he calls himself.

EXT. PARK

DOCTOR: (Quietly.) I... I...know who I am...

INT. TARDIS CLOISTER ROOM

EXT. PARK

DOCTOR: I am the Doctor!
GRACE: (Breathless.) Good. Now do that again.

INT. TARDIS CLOISTER ROOM

MASTER: See that? The retinal structure of the eye. The Doctor is half human! No wonder...

EXT. PARK

DOCTOR: No!
GRACE: What?
DOCTOR: It's him. I saw him. The Master... is here!
GRACE: The Master? What are you talking about?
DOCTOR: He's planning to take my body so that he will live and I will die! Oh, no! No! He's opened the Eye of Harmony!

INT. TARDIS CLOISTER ROOM

GRACE: What is the Eye of Harmony? Tell me!
DOCTOR: Wait...
MASTER: There. We're seeing what he's seeing.
LEE: I know that woman...

EXT. PARK

DOCTOR: I'm shutting my eyes so he can't see you, Grace, but it may be too late.
GRACE: What is the Eye of Harmony?
DOCTOR: The power source at the heart of the TARDIS.
GRACE: The TARDIS? What is the TARDIS?
DOCTOR: The TARDIS is my spaceship! It carries me throught time and space! T-A-R-D-I-S, it stands for Time and Relative Dimensions In Space!
GRACE: And this Master - is he like the Devil?
DOCTOR: No! The Master is a rival Time Lord.
GRACE: Time Lord. Oh, my God.
DOCTOR: Pure evil! I was bringing home his remains from Skaro, where his last incarnation had been exterminated by the Daleks! Or, so we thought!
GRACE: Oh, God... you really are insane, aren't you?
DOCTOR: But he's not dead! It's... it's a trap, don't you see? He wants me to look into the Eye!

INT. TARDIS CLOISTER ROOM

DOCTOR: If I look into the Eye, my soul will be destroyed and he will take my body!
MASTER: Listen to all those lies!
LEE: How could she believe him?
MASTER: Pure evil, that's how!

EXT. PARK

GRACE: I don't want to deal with this!
DOCTOR: Please, Grace, listen carefully...
GRACE: No, that's enough!
DOCTOR: If the Eye of Harmony remains open for too long, this planet will be sucked through it! Grace, I must fix the timing mechanism on the TARDIS so I can close the Eye! I need an atomic clock. Can you help me find one, Grace? Grace!

INT. TARDIS CLOISTER ROOM

MASTER: So that's how he intends to destroy me...
LEE: How?
MASTER: We must get to the Doctor before he finds a clock.
LEE: I know that woman! She was the surgeon who operated on him last night!
MASTER: If we find her, then we'll find him.

EXT. PARK

EXT. GRACE'S CONDO

INT. GRACE'S HALLWAY

GRACE: You stay away from me!

EXT. GRACE'S FRONT DOOR

DOCTOR: Please, Grace, just let me in!
GRACE: No!
DOCTOR: Grace... if you let me in, we can calm down, have a nice cup of tea and talk about this reasonably.
GRACE: Sure... Timelord to Earthling!
DOCTOR: That's right! I am a Timelord...
GRACE: I thought you were a doctor!
DOCTOR: And I thought you were a doctor!!
GRACE: Listen, I'm going to call an ambulance to take you back to the psychaitric ward from which you obviously escaped!
DOCTOR: Grace, we don't have time for this! The Eye of Harmony is open, and if I don't close it and get my TARDIS and the Master off this planet, then this planet will no longer exist! I reckon we have until midnight!
GRACE: I'm going to call an ambulance...

INT. GRACE'S LIVING ROOM

GRACE: Yes, I'll hold.
DOCTOR: Grace, I'm going to prove to you that the Eye of Harmony is open. Watch this... You see? Already the molecular structure of this planet is changing! At first, in subtle ways - then soon, incatastrophic ways! By midnight tonight, this planet will be pulled inside out! There will be nothing left!
GRACE: Hi... Yes... I need an ambulance as soon as possible. This is Doctor Grace Holloway. I'm going to need a bed in psychiatric... Better make that two.

EXT. HOSPITAL - NIGHT

INT. AMBULANCE

INT. GRACE'S LIVING ROOM

DOCTOR: I've lost twenty pounds.
GRACE: (Humouring him.) Congratulations.
DOCTOR: (Gravely.) In twenty minutes. It's starting.
GRACE: (Joking.) You'd make a fortune in the weight-loss business, Doctor. Come on!
ANCHOR WOMAN: (On TV.) And now, for the item we promised you about "The Millennium Effect", as some are calling it. Since early this evening, Bay Area tides have risen to levels that break all records for this time of year. Flood warnings have gone out along the Napa and Russian rivers and, get this, in Hawaii it's started snowing!
DOCTOR: Look at that, Grace! See?
ANCHOR WOMAN: (On TV.) Now, you may be wondering what this has to do with the millennium. We've been told that the freak conditions are due to very slight fluctuations in the Earth's gravitational pull - fluctuations that apparently only happen once every thousand years...
DOCTOR: I love humans. The way they see patterns in things that aren't there.
ANCHOR WOMAN: (On TV.) And when we come back, we'll be showing you where the wealthiest and most fashionable San Fransiscans are going tonight to see in the new millennium.
TV CO-ANCHOR: (On TV.) Didn't you say they're going to see a clock being started?
ANCHOR WOMAN: (On TV.) Not just any clock - the most accurate atomic clock in the world, and it's right here in the Institute of Technological Advancement and Research in downtown San Fransisco, so don't go away...
DOCTOR: That must be a byrillium clock...
GRACE: They're here... thank God!
DOCTOR: Excellent! They can take us straight to the Institute! We need to go directly to the Institute of Technological Advancement and Research. Do you know where that is?
MASTER: (Pulling a tiny smile.) Of course I do...
